PRTG gui starter Error while opening PRTG in Browser

Votes:

I have tried several times to install PRTG on a Win7 PC and I am now using release 15.3.19.

After starting the install, I get a PRTG Start window that says - Please wait until PRTG's web server is running .... and a little later I see errors scrolling in the window that says:

"Connecting to"http://127.0.0.1/group.htm?id=0&tabid=1&usename=prtgadmin&passhash=2340230352 failed .....:HTTP/1.1 404 Not Found"

After a few scrolls I see the following additional PRTG gui starter window:

Error with opening PRTG Bowser: PRTG web service did not start within 60 seconds.

Then, the system seems to be running but I cannot get to the Run Configuration Guru to perform the proper setup.

Any suggestions regarding now to address this problem would be appreciated.

Hi William,

That's not the first time impression we want to deliver! :(

Did I understand you correctly that PRTG is running already? If you cannot access the web GUI, please open the so called PRTG Administration tool on the PRTG host and check the web server setting. After closing this tool you should be able to log into PRTG. If you encounter any error message, please forward a screenshot so that we are able to see what's happening. Thank you!

Felix,

I did get signed on after creating some new credentials.

But I would like to get back to the Setup Guru; but cannot find it.

Thanks, Paul

William,

The Guru was replaced by the so called "Smart Discovery" which will perform a class C network scan after the initial installation. You can nevertheless click one the Home menu and the Perform Network Auto-Discovery button. Here you can define which network segment you want to discovery and which credentials should be used. If you choose the root level, all settings will automatically be inherited by objects below in the device tree due to the hierarchic structure of PRTG.

I got the same error just now when installing PRTG and after opening it, the Smart Setup is not running. And apparently it will only run when you first install PRTG. So how do I get it to run?
