If i try to change the device tree view option to the sunburst view after refreshing it goes back to the list view. Is there any chance this can be set permanently to the sunburst view for a read-only user.

This can be done by granting write permissions to the user. He has to login then, set the view accordingly. The permissions can be set back to read only again afterwards. The view will then be persistent.
