Remote Probe Cluster Connectivity Public URL

I have a number of remote probes that are currently communicating to the core probe over a public address, is it possible to have these remote probes send data to both master and slave nodes in the server with configuration changes?

How do the remote probes communicate to the nodes, do they connect by server name, IP ?

Please let me know if there is a way to configure the remote probes to communicate to the slave node using a public address.

If it is using the server name for the lookup, then I could amend the hosts files on the remote probe servers so they direct to the correct location.

Hello,

Yes, it is possible to connect the Remote Probes to both the Master and the Failover node.

This is how the Remote Probes connect to the Cluster nodes:

- On a Remote Probe (PRTG Administration Tool -> Probe Settings for Core Connection) there is only IP address/DNS name of the Master, so the Probe initially only connects to it.

- If the "Cluster Connectivity" is enabled for that Remote Probe, the Master node will send to the Remote Probe all IP addresses/DNS names of all Cluster nodes, that are entered in the table under "Setup -> System Administration -> Cluster".

- If the Failover is set to accept connections from the Remote Probes, then the Remote Probes will connect to all IP addresses/DNS names that are sent from the Master in the previous step.

So the Remote Probes are only "aware" of the IP addresses/DNS names entered under "Setup -> System Administration -> Cluster".
