How can a create a "backup" sensor for an alarmed device?

We have a number of routers with redundant links. The primary is a T1 link to a remote site, the backup is a switched ISDN line. When the primary link fails, the router automatically dials the site on the ISDN line. The ISDN line is not normally up.

Ideally, both sensors would be under the same device, because they are going to the same remote device. However, because there are two different PPP paths (and hence two different IP addresses) this doesn't seem to be possible. Yes, the network beyond is the same, but I want to verify the link, not the devices on network beyond.

So I set up two devices under one group. One for the primary path, one for the secondary. However, there doesn't seem to be a way to set up the secondary device/sensor to be normally paused and to resume if the primary is in alarm - and again when the primary is restored to pause the secondary device.

I'd like to be notified when the primary link goes down, and then notified when the backup is online - as well, notified when the primary is back up. This helps in determining how quickly something will need to be addressed.

Hi,
what you want to do might be possible with the Business Process Sensor. An alternative might be creating HTTP notifications which are triggered additionally to the normal email notifications. Those HTTP notifications could then unpause/pause the second sensor when the first link goes down/up.
Best regards
