I have a remote server hosted separately and I need to keep tabs on the machines health but it is running Linux. Was thinking of installing a probe instance on the machine. Is it possible, or are there other solutions that I am not thinking about?

Monitoring Linux Systems with PRTG

I'm afraid running a remote probe on Linux is not possible yet.

Currently, we recommend using SNMP for monitoring Linux systems. Also, with PRTG version 8 (currently available as Beta version only) there will be dedicated Linux sensors using SSH or WBEM.

How can I get my hands on the Beta? I am keen to test the new functionality.
