Device Template Not Working Properly

When I apply a device template to a device, PRTG creates a bunch of sensors that were not in the device template. How can I fix this?

Thanks

What type of sensors are we talking about? :)

Hi Stephan,

I'm creating just a few basic sensors, all I want is a ping, jitter, outside port, and 2 vlan monitors. I create the device template from a device that has only those monitors set up. But when I apply the template to a device it creates monitors for every port and every vlan on the device and I have to manually delete them. The devices I'm work with are an ASA 5505 and a Juniper SRX 210.

Thanks

Yep, that's because those sensors are metascan based sensors. That's necessary since the interfaces have different IDs on the devices and cloning them 1:1 onto another device will probably result in an error. Sorry, that's how it works for those sensors :/

Okay it's good to know that nothing is malfunctioning at least.

Maybe the developers could make it so it run the sensor creation process, create all the sensors, then deletes the ones that are not in the template. It would save me a lot of time when I have to add a hundred devices to PRTG.

Thanks for your help Stephan.
