Custom SNMP Trap Reciever

Votes:

Hello,

I'd like to monitor trap messages sent from a machine. In my test configuration this worked well with the SNMP Trap Reciever sensor, but in practice my company uses a their own MIB file including Trap OIDs. The problem is that my sensors effectively recieve the Trap messages but they dont show much informations about them, only the source's IP. Is it possible to import custom Trap OIDs in PRTG ? If not, can you recommend a way of programming my own sensor for this purpose ?

Thanks for your help.

Hello,
thank you for your inquiry.

Yes, PRTG can "translate" received traps as long as the MIB file doesn't have syntax issues (You can check this using our MIB Importer, no errors mean that it is OK) and afterwards copying the MIB file into PRTG's folder.

Please check the following article for complete/further instructions:

Best Regards,
