Monitor bandwidth of MPLS Port on Switch

Votes:

Hi,

We have an MPLS link from our Cisco 6500 Core Switch to our main office. All Internet, Exchange, FTP, etc. traffic goes through the MPLS.

We want to monitor the MPLS utilization so that we have clear view on who or what is utilizing the MPLS bandwidth. For this, we configured Netflow on our Cisco 6500 Core switch and pointed it to our PRTG Server.

We are now able to see the Core Switch traffic but the problem is that it also includes local traffic. How do I configure PRTG so that it will only show me all Incoming and Outgoing traffic of the MPLS Link/Port. The MPLS Connection is on one of the Ethernet ports of the core switch which is directly connected to the Telco's Switch.

Hello there,
we appreciate your contact.

PRTG's flow sensors can be configured/fine-tuned by using Filter Rules. For example you can filter the received stream with the following filters:

SourceIP[10.0.0.0/10]

DestinationIP[10.0.0.120-130]

DestinationPort[80-88]

InboundInterface[3]

Interface[2]

The filter can be entered within the sensor's settings on the Filtering field within the sensor's settings:

If you're interested in the interface[ ] filter, please read through the following article:

Best Regards,
