Value to use for Monitoring Link Utlization

Votes:

0

Hi,

When monitoring traffic utilization for a link in percentage, should I enter double the actual value of the link in the field Maximum (kbit/s). For example, for a 200Mb/s link should I enter 400000 kbit/s? The channels I am using are 'Traffic Totals".

Thanks, Pradeep

Dear Pradeep,

The Traffic Total channel will sum up the incoming and outgoing traffic. It will depend on the connection which value you will need to enter as a maximum. If the line i.e. only support 200 Mb/s incoming and 200 Mb/s outgoing traffic, 400,000 would be the correct maximum setting.

Best regards, Felix
