How to monitor SharePoint?

Votes:

0

Hi,

I've installed PRTG in my PC. Now I need to monitor a SharePoint site/server.

What are the steps for doing that? The UI is clean and neat but I am lost in terms of configuring a new device, specifically a SharePoint device.

Thanks

iis prtg sharepoint

It's basically like that:

  1. Configure WMI accordingly on the SharePoint server
  2. Create a new device that has the Sharepoints DNS name as address, e.g. sharepoint.example.com
  3. Right click the device and hit Add Sensor. In the searchfield, enter sharepoint
  4. Simply click the SharePoint Process Sensor and it will be added to the device.

If everything is configured properly, it should then look something like this:

sensor

Further information about the senor can be found on it's manual page.
Let me know if you're stuck somewhere! :)
