Folder Sensor - How To Monitor That a Folder is Being Updated

Votes:

0

We have a folder where SQL database backups are written daily. I'd like to monitor this folder to ensure that the newest file is no more than 24 hours old. I have reviewed every post in this Knowledge Base that I can find but I can't seem to get it to work as-intended.

The following post appears to address the same issue, but setting this as instructed still results in a sensor error of "File Too Old" https://kb.paessler.com/en/topic/69247-problem-on-sensor-folder

I've set the "Newest File" channel to an "Upper Error Limit" of 90,000 seconds (25 hours), and even though the newest file in the folder is 12 hours old it the sensor still goes into an alarm state. I have the "Oldest File" channel set to "Disable Limits", so it shouldn't be alarming on that channel. Any ideas as to how to resolve the issue or points where I set something incorrectly?

Hello,
we appreciate your post.

The error message that you're seeing is from the sensor's settings. This sensors includes additional support for this configuration within settings. Limits didn't always exist, but are now the "best way" to configure this.

Please click on the settings tab of your sensor and set the Check of File Ages to Do not check. This should result in only the limits that you've entered being evaluated.

Best Regards,
