PRTG core server service not starting

Hi When we try to start the PRTG core service it comes up with the message "sorry could not start prtg core server (web server)" and below "starting..." and nothing happens. anyone faced this issue?

We are running version : 16.2.23.3270

Dear Mohammed,

Please log onto the PRTG host and open the PRTG Administrator Tool. Please try to start the core server service below the Service Start / Stop tab. Do you get a more detailed error message then?

Hi Felix,

Stephan Linke from support team suggested that we upgrade to new version, so he sent the link to us and after upgrading, it started working. But still wondering is this common? or are we the first ones to come across this issue?

Hi Mohammed,

There is no known issue in regards to the service start in version 16.2.23.3270 in general. Hopefully, the PRTG services will run stable now. Good to hear that PRTG is up and running again.

Hello all,

we're facing a similiar issue. Since this night the core service is not starting any longer. When i try to start it via the PRTG Admin Tool i got the following "PRTG Core Server Service could not be started: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion". The system has been reboot but no change. In the core server log i ddi not find anything unusual. We're running V16.3.25.6124. Any ideas are welcome. Many thanks in advance.
