Differences between Default SSH engine and Compatibility Mode

Votes:

0

Hello,

after the update to 16.3.24.4980 and the implementation of the new Default SSH engine our SSH Disk Free sensors stopped working on SUSE Linux Release 11.

The switch back to the old Compatibility Mode fixed this for the time being, but with the impending removal of this option we want to get the new SSH engine working.

What are the key differences between the two engines and what are possible options to get the new engine working? Do we need to configure anything on the host? Any troubleshooting tips would be very helpful.

Thank you for your help

Hello,

Thank you very much for your KB-Post. The most important difference between the two engines is that the newer engine supports more and newer ciphers for encryption. To further troubleshoot this, can you please send us the exact error message that you get, when you run these SSH Sensors with the new engine?

best regards.

For further troubleshooting and improving the new engine, please send all the details we can get (Sensor Results to disk + probe logs + sshd logs + sshd config), with the default (new) SSH engine set. Send this via email to [email protected] with a reference to this KB-Thread.
