SSH script sensor returning login splash screen

Votes:

0

We are using PRTG version 16.4.27.6846+

I have created a custom bash script to count files in a virus quarantine folder and an SSH Script Sensor to run the script and check results.

However, the sensor fails with PE132 "Response not wellformed", but the text that it is returning is the login splash screen...

"Welcome to Ubuntu 16.04.1 LTS (GNU/Linux 4.4.0-57-generic x86_64)..."

When I set up the sensor it auto-filled the script parameter with the name of my script, so it can log in and see the script ok, but for some reason the sensor is grabbing the text from the ssh login rather than the result of the script.

I can't find anyone else reporting a similar issue, so I'm assuming I've done something wrong, but I can't see what. Any clues or pointers gratefully accepted.

Fixed it. After turning on logging for the sensor I could see it was failing to elevate privileges for the service account. I gave that user sudo rights and it now works as expected.

Hi there,

Great that it is working now. Next time we (or the community) will be hopefully faster. :)
