Verify remote login success via SSH/Telnet

Hi there. I would like to verify if the SSH service is working but I don't want only to check based on connecting to port 22 (or 23 for Telnet). I want to be able to verify if login is succeeding. Is there any way to achieve this goal? Thanks and regards, Flavio.

Hi Flavio,

You can use one of the "SSH Sensors" to verify the SSH connectivity and authentication: https://www.paessler.com/manuals/prtg/ssh_load_average_sensor https://www.paessler.com/manuals/prtg/ssh_disk_free_sensor https://www.paessler.com/manuals/prtg/ssh_inodes_free_sensor

Just make sure that you add the correct credentials to the device settings.

Hi Dariusz, thanks for your reply and suggestion. For what I can read, those are somewhat specific sensors to read average data from a Linux system. I'm wanting to connect via SSH (or Telnet) to Extreme Networks OS (EXOS). How do you suggest reaching this?

Okay, I wasn't aware of this so unfortunately, you have to build your own custom script which reports back to PRTG.
