placeholder in device templates

We use sensor names like "server_1 | uptime". Is it possible to configure device templates to get device names as part of sensor names?

autodiscover placeholder template

Dear Steffen

Device Templates don't support place holders. Usually, if sensors are shown, their parent device should be shown as well.

Hello Arne,

thanks for your answer. In library nodes with sensors selected by sensor type or id I cant see any device informations. So, at least for me, placeholders in templates would be a nice thing (or a script api for configuring sensors).

Dear Steffen

That is correct, the library view act just as a container for sensors. However we don't want to implement such placeholders, as they can lead to other issues. For example table scaling if the sensor names are very long. And if the device name changes, the sensor names would not change. We try to reduce redundancy wherever possible and rather address clarity issues with other ways. However, libraries are meant to be just sensor containers without a concept of their according devices.
