Will you continue to support sFlow monitoring?

We have Dell PowerConnect 6248 and they recently added sflow support through firmware.

How does sFlow compare with NetFlow? Is it as good?

We will of course continue to support sFlow.

At the moment only sFlow version 5 is supported.

NetFlow vs. sFlow

  • With Netflow all traffic is analyzed and preprocessed in the device.
  • With sFlow you are looking at every 50th or 100th packet of the traffic (depending on your device configuration). It is like having a river of traffic and you take a cup of water out of it ever so often and analyze it.
