VMWare moving away from soap to API

Since vmware are moving away from soap and toward rest api starting with 6.5 is there any view of redeveloping the soap probes in order to take advantage and if so what are the timescales.

We are looking at deploying 6.5 to our customers but im concerned that there will be no/limited support from this point onwards.

Hello Ross,

So far there are no plans on our end. This API is quite new and you can do only a fraction compared to what's possible with SOAP, so VMware will surely not ditch SOAP over night. There might be an overall shift to the new API some day, but for now it's too soon to put real efforts into it, but we will sooner or later, if the situation requires it.

Kind regards,

Erhard
