How I can monitor if a port is open to the external world?

Votes:

I have an external IP provided dynamically by my ISP so, sometimes, the new IP haven't the port 3389 open for me. Currently I manually monitor this from http://ping.eu/port-chk/, but I wonder if there's a way to monitor if the port 3389 is open to external access through PRTG.

Is there a way to do this? How?

Greetings, Eric.

Hello Eric,

PRTG needs to send the requests from an external point to monitor if the port is available. You can setup a remote probe in another network, or install a remote probe on a cloud provider machine to create a Port Sensor in PRTG which points to the external IP of your gateway.

Best regards, Felix
