Remote Probe on a Clusternode Server

Votes:

Hello, I want to have a remote probe on the same server where the cluster node (failover node) is installed. The failover node is in another location and we want to monitor application performance from this other location. Trying to install a remote probe software fails with "this machine is already running a server version of PRTG". Do I have to install a remote probe on a different server?

Hello Matthias,

Thank you for your KB-post.

Kindly note that a Remote Probe has to be installed on a separate server.

The Failover server has already the Core Server and its own Local Probe installed, so it is not possible to install one more Probe. The Local Probe of the Master and the Local Probe of the Failover are combined into the Cluster Probe.

Best regards
