Create different threshold for sensor alerts

Votes:

0

Hello,

I would like to know if is possible to create more "status" for alert sensors, including color changes, based on different thresholds. For example:

On a Ping sensor, specify that:

  1. below 10 ms (latency), green.
  2. 11-30 ms, yellow.
  3. 31-50, purple.
  4. 51-70, red.
  5. >71, black.

Cheers.

Hello there,
thank you for your KB-Post.

PRTG is build around the concept of only three statuses:

  • Green (OK)
  • Yellow (Warning)
  • Red (Down)

There's no sensor mapping that could be used for this, hence it's not possible. There are also currently no plans to introduce more user-configurable statuses in PRTG.

You could however, create 5 different notifications and use 5 distinct triggers to trigger the distinct notifications at different tresholds. This wouldn't give you different statuses in PRTG, but the messages sent with PRTG could have the "State" of the alert in the Subject, for instance:

Purple Alert: Sensor XXXX value is above treshold ZZZZ
