How can i import a large number of groups

Votes:

1

Hi, I'm going to set up a new PRTG Server with about 18.000 sensors in 700 Groups. These groups should be in 350 Groups. So there are 25 sensors in 2 groups in 1 Group and the last Group should have the adress.

Is it possible to import this infrastructure from a csv file or something like that?

Hi Mischa,

I'm afraid that is not possible, it was also discussed here for example.

In case you're referring to an existing PRTG installation that has these sensors and everything already running, you can simply throw its "PRTG Configuration.dat" into the other installation, which contains all the devices, groups and sensors.

Kind regards,

Erhard

Hi Erhard,

sad to hear that.

Thank you for the link, i couldn't find anything about file import. So i'm going to create 350 groups with the addresses. :(

You should think about something like a powershell implementation or an offline editor for the configuration files (less delay).
