Using ifName or ifAlias on enterprise root

Votes:

Dear support, In the private enterprise mib, some table are using interface index (of mib-2) as it's identification.

For example in the mib-2, the ifName of ifIndex 2000 is Interface2 and in the oid of private enterprise is 1.3.6.1.4.1.1234.122.2000.1

Is it possible to use ifName or ifDescr as index identification for private enterprise's oid ? If yes, how do I put in the oid's field of Custom SNMP type sensors ?

Thank you.

ifdescr ifname snmp-custom-sensor

Dear encarta,

the SNMP Custom sensor works OID based, meaning the actual index has to be put in as well. Depending on the OID structure of this MIB, you might find it easier to use the SNMP Custom Table sensor. For this sensor, please enter a table OID, so that the sensor creation dialogue can walk through said table. It then shows the table with the columns found, allowing you to select the columns like ifName as well.
