I've configured my cisco gear for SNMP V3, and in my PRTG a sensor trap for them. The version displayed in my PRTG is V1. Is that right, or did I miss a config somewhere?

cisco-3560 prtg v3

Hi skygremlin,

The SNMP Trap Receiver sensor only supports SNMP v1 and SNMP v2c traps. It does not support SNMP v3, you did not miss some config, but all other SNMP sensor types support SNMP v3.

Please use SNMP v1 or v2c to monitor your SNMP trap messages with PRTG.

Thanx Gerald, I added the snmp2 config to my switch (keeping the V3 config) -> restarted my PRTG Services but my Trap Receiver still shows a "1" in the Version col.

Hi there,

Please note that the version is submitted by the device itself, PRTG just reads the data. Maybe the device sends false information or still has a valid V1 configuration running which sends these traps?

Best regards.
