prtg 7.3.5.5802 and snmp bandwidth usage of cisco routers

Hi!

I try to set up free edition of PRTG version 7.3.5.5802.

I set up cisco router and ping probe worked perfectly. Then I decided to get interface bandwidth usage via snmp. I chose SNMP -> SNMP library -> Cisco-interfaces.iodlib and got following:

Sorry, the scan for available monitoring items has failed!
Error Message:"No available interfaces on this device (code: PE049)"

In the router I set up "debug snmp packet" with following output:

035864: Aug 13 15:18:22.539 SNMP: Packet received via UDP from 10.1.12.37 on BVI230
035865: Aug 13 15:18:22.539 SNMP: Get request, reqid 30705, errstat 0, erridx 0
 ifNumber.0 = NULL TYPE/VALUE
035866: Aug 13 15:18:22.539 SNMP: Response, reqid 30705, errstat 2, erridx 1
 ifNumber.0 = NULL TYPE/VALUE

035872: Aug 13 15:18:22.559 SNMP: Packet received via UDP from 10.1.12.37 on BVI230
035873: Aug 13 15:18:22.559 SNMP: Get-next request, reqid 30707, errstat 0, erridx 0

035875: Aug 13 15:18:22.567 SNMP: Packet sent via UDP to 10.1.12.37

As you see, all addresses, community are correct.

What did I do wrong? In previous version of PRTG this stuff worked without such troubles. Please, help me.

Dear Maxim,

does it work if you try adding a "normal" SNMP Traffic Sensor to this device (in PRTG)?

Best Regards.

Dear Torsten,

I tried "normal" SNMP traffic sensor too. With the same result - No available interfaces. I decided to downgrade version. And I installed version 7.2.1.4722 with exactly the same result. After that I downgraded to version 7.0.9.2051. And the last version works perfectly. This version allows to add sensor and with SNMP Traffic sensor type and with Cisco-interfaces.iodlib.

Hope this helps you.

Dear Maxim,

if you can add a sensor with PRTG 7.0.9, it really should also work with 7.3.x. Please check if the correct SNMP Settings (Version, Port, 32/64bit, Single/Mulit-Get) are applied or if changing those settings ("SNMP Compatibility Options") does help.

Best Regards.
