It's a proprietary database format, somewhat similar to RRDTool. And no, you can't change it ;)

Hi Stephan, we want to be able to report and format the appearance of the report, that goes far beyond what PRTG is currently able to. (to be honest, reporting is a growing opportunity for Paessler). Would we be able to query your database, so we can extract only the information we want and present it on a webpage e.g. with PHP. This would enable us to make less technical reports for higher management for instance.

How would we be able to directly query the PRTG database?

The only way would be the unsupported annd discontinued PRTG Data Extractor, so you can extract the data automatically via a second PRTG server into a MSSQL database and generate the corresponding reports.

Is there any chances to PRTG get support of Microsoft SQL in the future versions as alternative to own database?

Dear Customer,

At this time it is not planned to support Microsoft SQL or other SQL based databases for PRTG, sorry.
