How can I search for text in a result from a SNMP Custom String?

We added an SNMP Custom String to pull the serial number of a device. If we search for this serial number in PRTG nothing is displayed in the results. How can we search for this result data?

Hello willieb,

Thank you very much for your contact.

Unfortunately, the PRTG search does not index the messages of SNMP Custom String sensors, so you are not able to search for the messages, I'm afraid.

Best regards,
Sebastian

In that case is there anyway we can pull the serial number with SNMP Custom String and place the serial number either in the comments section of the device, or replace the name of the SNMP Custom String sensor, so it can be searchable? Thanks.

Hello willieb,

at least not with PRTG built-in features, but maybe this approach would allow you to do the requested.

Best regards,
Sebastian
