Ping several devices

Votes:

0

Hello,

We want to ping several devices but only get an error if more then 7 of the devices reply.

We have tried the mulitple ping sensor but did not have the result we are looking for.

Is there another way to monitor these devices and only get an error when more then 7 devices reply to the ping message? The devices are virtual machines, if we can monitor the number of running machines on this ESX cluster another way this is fine for us to.

Kind regards,

The Business Process Sensor should be what you're looking for. Simply add all ping sensors from either device and set the lower error limit to 15%. It will then alert accordingly. Note that the percentage may vary, depending on the overall amount of sensors. Like, if you have 100 ping sensors, 15 percent equals 15 running virtual machines and it will only alert if less than that are running.
