Alarm with two or more Sensor failure

Hy Community

I use ping to monitor devices. Is it possible that I will only receive one alarm from a group, if two or more devices/sonsor fail at the same time? Alarm should not come with a single faulty ping. At least an info.

Is that possible?

Hi,

Yes, you could combine the status from several ping sensor in one of these to sensors:

  • Sensor Factory Sensor
  • Business Process Sensor

The notification can be configured in one of the Sensors above - the single ping sensor don't need one.

I tried the Business Process Senor. Can i become this Sensor in a Group, and not in a Device?

Sensors can only be added to devices, not groups.

So is there another way to become a "group alarm"? I have devices in tree structure and on every split i want to monitor at least 2 devices.

Das System das ich überwachen möchte, sind Geräte die in einer Baumstruktur aufgebaut sind. Vergleichbar mit mehreren Swichtes die hintereinander geschalten sind und auch Geräte daran aneschlossen sind. Ich kann diese Switche nicht überwachen, sondern nur Geräte die an den Switche hängen. Für jeden Switch habe ich eine Gruppe in PRTG angelegt. In diese Gruppe habe ich die Geräte angelegt, die ich Pingen kann.

Vorgestellt hätte ich mir das so, dass ich je Switch(Gruppe) einen Sensor anlege, der mir nur einen Alarm gibt, wenn wenn mehrere bzw. alle Geräte dieser Gruppe und natürlich auch die Geräte and den folgenden Switche ausfallen.

Prinzipiell wäre hier der richtige Weg, die Geräte-Gruppe vom Ping-Sensor des Switches abhängig zu machen. Dann wird die komplette Gruppe pausiert, sobald der Switch nicht mehr erreichbar ist (sprich, sein Ping im Fehlerzustand ist) :)

Das verstehe ich nicht. Wenn ich die Gruppe von einen Ping abhängig mache und dann pausiert wird, bringt mir das nichts.

Ich benötige einen Alarm wenn mindestens 2 Geräte am Switch ausfallen.

Ich hoffe ich darf hier einen Link reinstellen indem eine einfache Zeichnung als beispiel dient: https://picload.org/view/dolaglcr/prtg.jpg.html

S3 darf kein Alarm kommen, dah nur ein Gerät Offline. S5 soll Alarm geben, dah mindestens Gerät1 und Gerät 2 ausgefallen sind.

Das funktioniert so leider nicht - Anzahl-basiertes pausieren durch Abhängigkeiten geht nicht :(
