I have an awesome new feature idea (either functional or sensor-wise) for PRTG. What is the best way to request its implementation and make sure that it is not forgotten?

Our approach to handling feature requests

In the past, we used a bang-for-the-buck method to handle feature requests and similar feedback by our customers. Then we began to use our Knowledge Base as an interactive interface for us, Paessler Technical Support and Development, and you, the PRTG users.

As we continue to transition our services, we are excited to introduce you to one central location for all your service needs: to the Paessler Help Desk.

Paessler Help Desk

At the Paessler Help Desk, you can request features, ask technical questions, view your submitted tickets, and access other resources to help improve your monitoring experience.

How can I submit a feature request?

  1. Search the current List of Feature Requests and check if a request for the feature you would like to have is already there. If yes, simply vote for it.
  2. If you are not able not find the feature, navigate to the Paessler Help Desk.
  3. Click Create Ticket.
  4. If prompted, log in with your credentials. If you have not registered yet, click Register Now.
  5. Select I'd like to submit a feature request from the drop-down menu.
  6. To optimally describe your feature or idea for improvement, fill out all the fields with a thorough description of your idea.
FieldDescription
SubjectEnter a clear subject of your request that lets us know the theme of your request. Ideally, start your subject with Feature request for.

Example: Feature request for SSO in PRTG Hosted Monitor
User StoryEnter a brief summary of your idea or request. Include what the feature might do in general.

Example: I'd like to be able to sign in via SSO on my PRTG Hosted Monitor account.
Detailed User StoryEnter the details of your request. Be as detailed as you want!

Example: I find it frustrating to have to log into my PRTG Hosted Monitor account every single time with my full user name and password. I would like to be able to sign in via SSO at the click of a button and not have to worry about typing in my user name and password every single time I want to check my network.
Acceptance CriteriaEnter a list of goals that, when fulfilled, would make you consider this feature or idea implemented.

Example:
* I can click one button on PRTG Hosted Monitor sign-in page to log in.
* I never have to enter my password to log in.

Once you are satisfied with your responses, click Submit.

Your request is now in the review process. You can find any requests you have submitted under Tickets | My Tickets.

If you click on a ticket you have created, you have the option to update the ticket details or send an additional comment to the Paessler service team.

Is there a PRTG roadmap?

Not every good idea will end up on our roadmap and our plans may also change while in progress. For example, because it turns out that a feature will work differently than we initially expected. We will only know this when we have an innovation that has been run in our labs.

But, as soon as we have something new, we would love to hand it out to you as soon as possible. That's why early releases of PRTG are available to all of our customers.
