Create User Group only can create/delete/edit "disk" sensors

Hi all,

It needs to create a Group of user who can only control the sensors of "Disks" such as SNMP/WMI disk free, etc. It must make sure this group of user cannot edit other type of sensors ,they can "read" other sensors is acceptable. Does it possible to create this User Group? Thanks.

Daniel

Dear Daniel,

this is not directly possible. You cannot allow write access on some sensor types and read-only on others. You do can restrict the creation of new sensors to certain sensor types per user-group, but a write user can always edit / delete other sensors as well.

The solutions is to work with two device groups or devices per user group. Set one to read-only access for that group, the other to write access, while the group has only certain types of sensors which a user in that group can create.

Dear Arne,

Thanks for your reply.

Can I get the detail description of User Groups of "User", "Supervisor" and "Administrator"? Thanks

Daniel

Dear Daniel,

that depends on the configuration of those groups. (It would be possible to create a group named "Supervisor" without granting many rights.) Please review the group settings. Those settings are documented here.

Access rights to objects (sensors, devices, probes ...) are not configured in the user group settings and instead in the settings of each object.
