Hi,

I would like to know if if when a PRTG cannot connect to the device its monitoring for say Dell Hard drive failures it would not trigger the hard drive failed notification.

Its very frustrating that we know a site may have connection issues and this is being dealt with but it is not necessary having a hard drive fault.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Hello Andy,

Thank you very much for your contact.

You can set-up such scenario with PRTG's dependencies. I'm not aware of your configuration, but basically you'll need a Ping sensor on the Dell device and configure this sensor as master dependency object. The right approach is described in the article properly.
If the Ping sensor becomes down, for instance because of a connection issue, all other sensors of the device will be paused automatically. If the ping sensor becomes up again, all other sensors will be started.

Best regards,
Sebastian
