RPC failure some of the time

I receive error 800706BE: The remote procedure call failed often, but not consistently when a particular server has it's CPU usage checked. The probe will check the CPU, and sometimes the Disk Free, generally come back with a status "Up", but then a few moments later is comes back with the error listed above.

I took a screenshot, first check of Disk Free was at 9:26:48 AM with the RPC failure, then at 9:26:52 AM it was successful.

As this is not a consistent issue the usual "fixes" do not apply.

Hi there,

Is it possible that there are two or more servers with the same DNS-Name? This could explain the changes.

Please also make sure that the you monitor the remote device via its FQDN. Additionally, check if you see the same issue with the WMI-Tester when you query the remote device manually from the Core Server or Remote Probe:

Best regards.
