Applicatio monitoring in PRTG

I would like to monitor several aspects relating to applications and I would like to know if these are possible in PRTG.

1. Can I monitor what applications are running on a server or client? I would like to get a list of these applications. 2. Is there a sensor that identifies what is using the most bandwidth? Can I see if websites like facebook or netflix are using a lot of data or applications like mail or VoIP? 3. Is it possible to see client connections to the server or to get similar data?

Please let me know if there is anything else PRTG can do that is related to application monitoring.

Hi there,

Basically, the easiest approach in order to monitor the bandwidth consumed by each application would be to use the several flow based or packet sniffer sensors. That assumes that the switch(es) between the application host and PRTG are able to send flows or support port mirroring. Is either the case?
