The company I work for monitors a large number of customer sites using PRTG and we have remote probes installed at around 50 sites. Is there any way, without adding a ping sensor to each probe, of sending a notification when the probe is disconnected. I can easily setup a notification when the probe has a status of down but the problem is if any of the sensors inside the probe health change this creates a status of down and would send the notification. We only want the notification to occur if the sensor is completely offline for 30 minutes, not if performance is high etc. Telling PRTG to send a notification when the health sensor is below a certain amount would also make sense but when you take the sensor offline the health sensors don't update so this means no notification occurs. Setting the notification at a higher level doesn't work either.
I would just add a ping probe and monitor that but we would then need to put this monitor on 50 probes and this would use 50 sensors.
