Hi Paessler.

I am manhandling a large group from one host to another to aid in load balancing and i was wondering if it is possible to migrate the maps that these groups populate to the second host too?

Hi Sam,

Maps can't be exported and imported from one PRTG to another. Note that the following is not supported officially:

  1. Make sure to stop PRTG services while you do that.
  2. Open up the configuration file.
  3. The root node contains a max attribute. Increment that by 2 (e.g. so it says 16003 instead of 16001)
  4. Open up the configuration and search for <map id="<objid>
  5. Copy the whole node into the other PRTG configuration at the same place, below or above an existing map node.
  6. Change the map ID to 16002 - 16002 representing the number between the original and the incremented number
  7. Start the PRTG Core Service again and check if the map is actually there on the new server

Let me know if it works!

Kind regards,
