sensor SMTP/pop3 round trip setup



We are trying to setup the SMTP/POP3 sensor. The issue we have is that the generic email address we are using is not part of the PRTG users. My question : Does the email that we use to send out the email need to be in PRTG and if they do, what security setting does it need? We used one of the admin users email address and it was able to send out emails. We do not want to create an admin account just to check email flow.

Just to check, did you already review the corresponding manual article of the sensor?
SMTP&POP3 Round Trip Sensor

We recommend a dedicated mailbox which is been used only for this sensor. You don't need to create an additional (I assume you referred to PRTG) administrator user account.
