Hello!

Just trying to understand logic of HP Proliant Server System Health sensor. It show status of several channels (like tempurature or power consumption) of iLo system, but it also looking into IML (Integrated Management Log) of server. Sometime IML log showing server Errors or Warning and this status also transferred to Overall Status of the sensor. Most of the times this errors is permanently showing by sensor, it can be cleared only in IML log management option. Can this be done without clearing of IML logs, because we need this logs.

Hi there,

Unfortunately, that is not possible. We request the states directly from the device itself - as long as the device returns an error or warning, then the sensor will stay like this. There is no way for PRTG to clear any errors.

Best regards.

The problem for us is that we do manage the IML by marking items as repaired so that there are no longer any errors, but the health sensor stays in error. Marking the items as repaired does clear the sensor error condition in some of the newer generations of HPE servers/ILO but in the older ones, the health sensor error never clears without erasing the entire IML (not an option for us). To confirm, I made a custom sensor for IML Status on all of our HPE servers and it also continues to show error after all error items are marked as repaired.

I'm afraid as long as the device returns an error or warning and the error isn't cleared at the IML (either marking as repaired in newer generations of HP/ILO or erasing), the prtg sensor will always show an error message as well. I'm afraid there is no other way for PRTG to determine if the error has been cleared or not.
