AWS Lambda function to query PRTG API

Votes:

Currently we are researching in order to build a Conctact Center ( Amazon Connect ) integration with a PRTG server, we would like to be able to query alerts, down sensors, and uptime from a phone call to the contact center. I think that we need to query the PRTG API from a Lambda function. We have looked at your Alexa Step-by-Step integration document, but It looks very specific for Alexa integration.

Please could you help us with some clue as to how to start developing this integration. Do you know if there is any existing integration between Amazon connect and PRTG?

Thank you very much.

Hi rcarreras,

we don't have special AWS or Lambda function interfaces, but there is an HTTP API available. The introduction can be found here, the full table of contents is available here.

Many, but not all parts of PRTG can be controlled through the API. For example in order to query down sensors, one can extract a sensor table filtered by status. An example would be

/api/table.xml?id=0&content=sensors&columns=objid,sensor,status,message,lastup&count=*&filter_status=57&sortby=-lastup

The status for these calls are encoded this way:

1 = Unknown 2 = Collecting 3 = Up 4 = Warning 5 = Down 6 = No Probe 7 = Paused by User 8 = Paused by Dependency 9 = Paused by Schedule 10 = Unusual 11 = Paused by License 12 = Paused Until 13 = Down Acknowledged 14 = Partial Down
