Monitoring 8212zl Switch

Hi guys, I am to monitor traffic on 8412zl switch but this is proving difficult. I can auto discover the switch and its ports but no traffic stats are displayed. I have done some testing and I can scan the device using the PRTG tester and this shows all the mibs and I can even pick one and add this myself. But before I even try to do this myself being a complete novice at both prtg and creating mibs has any got any ideas to get this working ?

Hello,

Based on the attached information from the SNMP tester, we can see there are many timeouts. This can be due to connection problems between the PRTG and the target device, missing configuration in the target device or the user configured is not allowed in the switch.

First, make sure there is nothing in the network blocking SNMP packets between the PRTG and the switch, like a firewall or antivirus. then make sure the community string is configured correctly in the switch. You may follow this detailed guide for SNMP Troubleshooting in order to make sure everything is configured right.

Then you can start by configuring an Uptime sensor to make sure the device SNMP is configured properly and the PRTG is able to access it. And if the Uptime sensor works you can create the Traffic Sensor.
