CPU WMI Sensor and template

Hi,

I created a template for the Linux servers and when I apply this template on a new device the threshold error for each processor is not applied. The threshold is applied only on Total channel.

Why ?

Thanks,

Isabelle

Hello Isabelle,

This behavior seems to be expected, it's depending on the amount of CPUs and hence, channel limits won't be applied to the single core channels, but only to the total channel as that one is existing on all deployed sensors. Not all sensors have the same channels therefore it cannot apply the template to the channels.

Each CPU channel is generated dynamically. Not every server has the same amount of cores. That means that limits for the single CPUs are not saved, only for the total. And a limit on a single CPU core really doesn't provide much benefit. Single CPUs might be utilized differently, only the total channel is a good indicator here.
