Can PRTG run automated scripts?

Votes:

We recently switched from Solar Winds Orion to PRTG. I had been using some scripts in S/W that automatically saved the running configuration of devices each night, and another one that downloads a copy of the startup config each night. I'm wondering if PRTG has any function like this that I can use.

automation backups scripts

Hi there,

Thank you very much for your contact.

There is no native, built-in possibility to save or copy running configurations of different devices in PRTG, but there might be a way that however requires some scripting of you.

Please check the EXE/Script or EXE/Script Advanced custom sensor that comes with PRTG. You could write an external script that proceeds the requested backup job to save the configuration executed by either one of the named sensors. You can also define a fixed scanning interval, for instance each day at 3am. The script response should match PRTG's expected format and could provide you with a sensors result such as 'OK' in case of a successful execution.

Best regards,
Sebastian
