PRTG Syslog

I have setup a new Probe server. On the probe server I am monitoring 10 Windows 2016 servers, each server has 5 sensors. I have installed the syslog receiver onto the Probe Device. When I go into the probe device and click on syslog server I see no messages coming through. I then removed the syslog receiver from the Probe Device and installed it on one of the servers in PRTG, I went into syslog and still see nothing. I watched the PRTG video on installing and configuring a syslog server but am not sure what else to check. Do I need something installed on the windows servers like an agent?

Hi there,

If you add the sensors to the probe device, there will be no explicit exclude filters. If you add them to a particular device, the incoming messages will be filtered for the address of the parent device.

Did you send any syslog messages from these Windows servers, or did you install any software sending Syslogs to PRTG?
