Hello there,

Devices are not added to user groups per se, they can be added to a probe or nested inside a device group. These objects have then access rights configured about which user group has which particular access level to it.

So access rights (including visibility) in the device tree are controlled by group memberships. When you create a new user group, by default this group has no access to anything in PRTG.

As many other settings as well, access rights are inherited from top to bottom, you can find them on each object's "Settings" tab. If you want to grant access rights for a user group that should be effective for everything in the device tree, you do so in "Settings" tab at root level, so basically you click on "Devices" in the menu, now you're in root view, head to "Settings" and scroll down to "Access Rights" where you can set access rights for each user group that will be inherited from there to all objects below.

In case you want to grant access only to particular device group, head to "Settings" tab of the respective device group and set access rights as needed.

Or you add a device group and allow only a particular group to access this device group, then all other users won't be able to see devices added to this group.

Kind regards,

Erhard
