Auto Discovery (template) without adding eth interfaces?

Votes:

0

hi, the selected best answer in this post link below accomplishes what i need to do, however in the process (as with all auto discovery actions) many Ethernet interfaces are also added/auto-discovered (including ones i have deleted before).

is there anyway to run auto-discovery (via template) and NOT have discovered Ethernet interfaces added? (another way of saying this, is run auto-discovery with template, but ONLY add the sensor(s) in that template, and nothing more?)

(im trying to do this on many devices, so using management tab to delete X number of Ethernet interfaces per device will not work)

thanks

Hello Jim,

Thank you very much for your question.

I'm afraid but your approach is still the way to go. Sensors that have a meta-scan, where you can select for instance the interface before its creation, will always skip the meta-scan when being created through a device template. Each network interface with values larger 0 will automatically created and needs to be deleted afterwards.
This is also described in the corresponding manual:

In general, you cannot save all Sensor Settings and Sensor Channel Settings (for example, channel limits of dynamically created channels) of sensors that dynamically scan for available monitoring items when you add the sensor. This affects, for example, traffic sensors where you can choose interfaces that you want to monitor in the Add Sensor dialog.

Best,
Sebastian
