PRTG Netflow on a network

I have over 900 switches in a core, distribution, access layer configuration. I would like to deploy Netflow on my network. Do I deploy Netflow out to all of my switches or just to the core? If I deploy to more than just the core, do I need to use different network ports for each Netflow deployment?

Hello,

In the NetFlow Sensor you can either:

-enter an IP address to only receive data from a specific device. This way you would need one netflow sensor for each device. If you want to differ traffic for the individual devices then each device should send on a different port.

-or leave the IP field empty to receive data from any device on the specified port. In this case you can use 1 Netflow sensor for multiple devices.

Please not that we do not recommend using more than 50 of this sensor type on each probe.

Kind Regards,
