How to identify and get a device type?

After an auto-discovery is completed, the device type is automatically specified. For example, the device type is attached after the device name like [Linux/Unix], [Cisco device], etc.

This is usually done by inspecting the response sent from the device during Auto Discovery. You could use PRTGapi's System-Information retrieval option and/or parse the device name to retrieve what PRTG has found out :)
