Reuse PRTG License for a new environment



I would like to ask the following question.

We currently have an environment that we are not using for production elements.

We would like to reuse the same license for a new environment in order to re-balance with production elements

Can we reuse the license of the environment that will be shutdown?

Hello there,

A license can only be used on one system. If you want to use it on a new system, you need to deactivate it on the old one first. This is possible in Setup | License. Afterwards, you can activate the license on the new system and the old one will continue for 30 days. After this time span it gets limited to 100 sensors.

What happens If We did not Deactivate the License in 1st PRTG system and reuse that License on 2nd system and configure a new License on 1st PRTG System, So what to do next, I am getting an error (Temporary activation. License already in use on a different system) on 2nd PRTG system

Thank you for reaching out to PRTG support

As it was mentioned by the previous engineer, your license can only be used for one installation at a time. So if the license was activated in a new installation, it had to be deactivated from the previous one.
