Syslog source country based in the IP

Votes:

Hi

I'm testing now PRTG. We have few firewalls (pfsense) sending Syslog to PRTG. I'm creating a syslog server sensor per device and is working well.

One of the requirements that we have is to see source country for each user connected to our OpenVPN server running on pfsense.

Do you have any filter, map or other ideas to visualise the source country for the OpenVPN users? We can do it via syslog or snmp.

Thank you

Hi,

I'm afraid it's not directly possible to display the source country of syslog messages. You can find all available syslog filter here: https://www.paessler.com/manuals/prtg/syslog_receiver_sensor. You could filter by IP-address and name the sensor manually according to the corresponding country.

Hi

Any other way to do it ? For example maybe via snmp or similar ?

Unfortunately I'm not familiar with pfsense. If there's a OID available which displays the source country, you might be able to use custom snmp sensors. Other than this I'm afraid there's no workaround.
