HTTP Sensor selection and setup

I am new to PRTG. I have a task to to monitor our hosted Web applications (Same applications on multiple environments). The first requirement is to measure the full response time of the application health page, including the time to complete the Web APIs. Another task is to test Web API response time and content (such as successful rate). Based on my reading, I am planing to use HTTP Full Web Page sensor for the first task and HTTP XML/REST value sensor for the second. Are these right choice? Are there any detailed instructions to setup for these sensors? Do I need to install a probe on my monitoring targets?

Thanks

Hello,

Thank you for your post.

For your first requirement the HTTP Full Web Page sensor should be the right one. Regarding the second requirement, I would recommend trying out the REST Custom sensor to monitor your API. Instructions on how to setup the rest custom sensor can be found in it's manual.
